“Sight” has received outstanding reviews from Rotten Tomatoes, with a 98% audience score, and praise from prestigious publications like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Forbes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sight). However, despite its critical acclaim, the movie hasn’t reached enough viewers. In an industry driven by profit, social value often takes a back seat.

This film, based on the life of a Chinese American immigrant, Dr. Ming Wang, represents a significant cultural milestone as the first American movie to feature a Chinese immigrant protagonist. Unfortunately, it faces several obstacles, including preconceived notions from major film distributors who believe that only kung fu and period dramas appeal to American audiences.

Even after Dr. Wang’s incredible effort to promote the film by touring 40 states and giving free performances to over 50,000 Chinese Americans, less than 1% of these audiences have turned out to buy tickets for “Sight.” With ticket sales under 650,000, far short of the 2 million needed for success, the movie’s future looks uncertain.

If “Sight” doesn’t achieve better box office results, streaming services like Netflix may not pick it up, and this historic film could disappear both online and offline. This would be a significant loss, not just for the Chinese American community but for anyone who values diverse and meaningful storytelling in cinema.

We urge you to seize this last chance to support “Sight.” It’s more than just a film; it’s a story of resilience, cultural heritage, and the universal human experience. By watching “Sight,” you’re not only enjoying a great movie but also supporting a vital piece of cultural representation.
